In my rifles, I have all the loads I ever need to hunt any animal on earth, up to and including blue whale. My loads are accurate and pack enough velocity to turn a charging animal, be it rabbit or rhino, inside out (don't laugh; remember Jimmy Carter's hare-raising experience).

So why can't I leave well enough alone? I'm heading out to the range after work today to chrono "new" 404 and .375 loads. These loads have as much as a one-half grain difference from the last time I chroned. After all, I might get an extra 15 or 20 fps!

I was in the loading room last night and looked at the dozens of stacked partial boxes of rejected loads waiting for someone (who the bullet fairy?) to start pulling bullets and harvesting components. That's when I realized that I am a very sick man. I will never be satisfied with a load. Anybody know how to get an RCBS 505 to weigh .001 of a grain?

High, my name is GAHUNTER and I am a reloadaholic!

I must confess, I have the same sickness. I just ordered Brass for three rounds that I had enough to last me years, now I will have enough to last decades. If my son or five grandson's don't take up the reloading itch my wonderful wife will be cussing my grave someday. Good shooting.

GAHUNTER,

Since you have seen my reloading room, if you are a "reloadaholic", what does that make me ? At least you have taken the first step in admitting your addiction .

there was a time in my life when I lost days and weeks with things like loading 22 long rimfire blackpowder cartridges or 16 ga. Pinfire shotshells.
Then I found a new love: PORTWINE, the love was strong and I changed

follow me, OK I am an alcoholic

You seem to be perfectly "normal" to me.

The weight on the far right adjusts the scale from 0 - 1 grain in increments of 0.1 grains. I will take a picture and post it for you.

EDIT

I misread you post, (0.001 grain) no idea on that one. Sorry

You have a disease known as FUCKITIS. It efffects many people in many forms but simply put it is the inability to stop FUCKING with things until you break them.

No matter how well something works a person with FUCKITIS always thinks it can be improved, and he can do it. It is an inability to let go. Most infected patients have been shown to be men so it is theorized that it is genetic.

Other related diseases are the "I DON'T NEED TO ASK DIRECTIONS BECAUSE I KNOW WHERE I'M GOING" syndrome and the "I KNOW I'M 60 YEARS OLD AND FAT BUT WEARING THIS PONYTAIL WILL MAKE ALL THOSE 25 YEAR OLD CHICKS THINK I'M SEXY AND COOL"

The only known cure is to take up Fly Fishing. Tieing flies while eating dinner, driving down the road and laying in bed will get your mind off your disorder and focus your brain on something worthwhile.

There is no way at 70 years old, I can live long enough to shoot all the ammo I have loaded up, I couldn't even shoot the big bore stuff much less the varmint loads..but I am loading up a couple of hundred .308, 200 222s as we speak, after all I might want to go hunting, and I only have, by count, 3000 222s loaded and probably a 1000 .308s....

Wonder if I could get a part time sniper job in Iraq? or even california would be OK!

Cripes, where did you find Hornady 400gr bullets at $9.00 a box? Let us know if you ever see a sale like that again.

Ray,
you have just made my heart a lot lighter. I'm just a 47 y/o punk, but had lately been wondering who will use the ten "spare/extra/backup" boxes of .416 Rem (1/2 are solids!), etc., etc. that I won't ever use beyond the five "regular" boxes and the 240 practice (God bless Hornady 400 grainers on sale at $9.00 a box) rounds. No point in worrying about drives that I will never be able to control. I'll just keep hunting, shooting, reloading, and fishing till the end. Maybe I can start a "gun donor" program. Lord knows my organs won't be worth much by then...

Hey George,
Uncork a beer and kick back a bit, this story is delicious:
A gunstore mis-ordered six boxes of Hornady bullets and ended up with 400 grain soft point instead of say, 55 grain v-max. I noticed them on the shelf with a film of dust on the boxes. I "off handedly" mentioned to the owner that he would probably not sell them in the next ten years. Over the next two months the price slid lower and lower. When it hit $9.00 I couldn't handle it any more and bought them all. The owner used that same technique when haggling over gun prices with widows and orphans, laid off miners, etc., so it was poetic justice. I can still see the look on his face. Probably the only time I came out on the winning side.
Too bad there isn't a buying club for big bore addicts. Those Hornady bullets are the best plinking pumpkins going.

Senor el Jeffe,
Those bullets will probably go bad down there in the hot Texas sun. Why don't you send them up here where it is cooler and just get some fresh ones when you get a good deal on an original Rigby at McBrides in Austin .

This is one of the big reasons I never started reloading! I am obsessive compulsive and would have done just the same. I simply buy popular calibers only and buy the cheap stuff to practice with, and a couple boxes of the "good" stuff for hunting/self defense ect. I did just buy a .458 Lott (already have a win) but in reality how much ammo will I put through that gun? NOT MUCH, it's just my prized "top dog" gun to show off with. I'll practice with the cheap .458 and .375 rounds at the range, just shooting about 10 rounds of Lott each year. I will save brass though, to take to a reloader if I ever feel like it. (or even give away, why throw out .458 win brass!)

My calibers....(rifles) .22 win mag, .223 rem., .308 win., .338 win mag., .375 H&H, .416 rem, .458 win, .458 Lott. As you can see I'm a nut too because I'll never probably use the .375 on up.... (.308 and maybe .338 for deer, .338 for Elk/black bear) So over half of my rifles will never be used for any but paper targets, thats sick too!
