Aagard's 375 model 70
Years ago I read "Aagard's Africa". I recall stories of him hunting with a peep sighted pre-64 model 70 in 375. Anyone know if this was a straight comb or humped comb stock? Thanks

Matt

Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984:

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

In Finn's writings he replaced the standard Model 70 stock with a Winchester made Super Grade stock which he had bedded to his rifle.

Thanks for that info, David. Do you happen to know what type of comb it had? Thanks

Is that the rifle Berit shot at the Hoot&Shoot?

Yes. While I did not shoot it, I held it and examined it. It is one of those rifles that talks to you. Berit was my scorekeeper at that event BTW, and a very classy lady.

That is the rifle and the lady is Finns wife I'm pretty sure..Finn was somewhat of a do it yourself gunsmith and he used a huge amount of glass to cover the bolt crossbolts on that rifle, I would recognize that rifle anywhere.

I fired that rifle too. It was almost a religious experience just getting to touch it. When the offer came to shoot it I almost had a cardiac event! It shoots good!

Wow, I never thought she would age. She looked like she was in her 20s forever.

My mother in law (and wife of course) have a similar complexion and look as Berit. My mother in law finally shows her age, but it took her 65 plus years to do it.

Any idea when & where the photo of Berit was taken? Finn was one of my favorite writers and I have also enjoyed some of Berit's writing too.

The pictures of Berit were taken at a range south of Houston in April of 2010.

The event was the Hoot and Shoot.

Those events were a lot of fun.

It is long overdue to have another one.
