It is evident on this forum that AA 2230 is the choice of most that hand load for a 458 Win Mag. On the Accurate Arms web site they show AA 2460 delivers about 50 FPS higher velocity at a lower pressure than 2230, although it takes 2 additional grains of powder Why is 2230 preferred; Accuracy? temperature stability? or is this a misprint?

I use and love AA 2230. It was the top powder listed by velocity and bottom by pressure in the Hornaday Manual when I came to love it. I want to try AA 2460 at some point, but AA 2230 has been all I could want so far.
Back in the day when I was doing a lot of 458 Winchester I used RL 7 for loads with 400 gr bullets and RL 15 for the 450-500 gr bullets. The RL 15 being pretty heavily compressed! Pressures were fine, and even in some very high heat there was never an issue. But that was long time ago. Not shooting much 458 Winchester these days, mostly 458 B&M which has the same case capacity, just shorter and with a shoulder. I wonder if either AA 2230 or AA 2460 would do well in that case??? Currently AA 2520 is doing the heavy work 450-500s in it, and doing a really good job. But always can try some new powders, who knows?

Give H335 a try. It's a bit better in my CZ 550 in 458WM than 2460 with the 500gr Hor. RNSP. 2200 fps with each, but AA2460 took 2 grains more and showed slightly higher pressure.
Hornady recommends H335 even though they show a load of AA2230 attaining 50fps more. And Barnes manual seems to confirm that, though TAC is nearly identical but slightly less dense (same charge as H335 but more volume).
I really like 3031...only gives about 2050 out of my 22" Winchester post-64, but will cut cloverleaf groups at 50 yds all day long using the open sights.

I use IMR4320 for all my loads for the Lott and the 458 Win Mag that I shoot in my 458 Lott. Those 458 bullets for the 458 Win Mag that I shoot go 2158FPS in my Lott.
