It may be old news, but a few hours ago the ballistics lab had some type of explosion. They are reporting no injuries but the shooting tunnels are toast. They also claimed on local news that they will stop producing bullets as they now have no way of testing them. One of the techs told me last week that they test 4 bullets of every type they are making each day. Matthew

I should have been more specific but was dealing with the kids as I typed. I was told they shot 4 of each type of bullet they make every day. The radio guy said they were going to stop production for the meantime but it could be awhile as they needed to get the shooting tunnel and lab back in order but there was extensive damage. A friend works next door and said there was a lot of smoke, but not much building damage that he could see. The radio spokesperson said they had no idea what happened but were glad no one was hurt. What I was meaning: How would a massive explossion occur in a tssting tunnel used for small arms ...?? Maybe they were testing something larger ..??

The article talks about orange 'plumes of smoke'. That sounds like powder fire then explosion.

My bet is the unburnt powder from all those test shots finally went up. I clean my test fire tube for just that reason. I know of 2 other test tubes going up, but not as dramatically. The test fire tube a TSJC went a couple years back. Steve
