Not only do I use one of them, I use a leather shooting jacket also. I use ear plugs plus ear muffs! I'm a wuss, but I shoot good groups.

I've used a Past recoil shield for many years, ever since they were first introduced. I've had the same one, which I've never had to replace, for all this time, and it's a permanent part of my range kit. I use it only for bench shooting. A very well-made and effective piece of gear!

I do use one at the range, but have never used it in the field. It's alright when snuggling up behind the gun at the range, but I'd expect you'd find it might seem to get in the way during field use. It also gets notably stiff in low temps, but that doesn't seem to diminish it's effectiveness too much. I've used it with a 458 Lott and 500 Jeffrey off the bench, no bruising, but you still no the gun goes off.

Don't think I'd want to shoot a 4 bore off the bench, unless it was held in a vice and there was a lanyard on the trigger.

I use the largest PAST recoil pad. I think it is shoddily designed, impractical, hard to wear, and never staying in its place, but it still beats shooting without one.

What a girl, needs a sissy pad to shoot huh? I use the regular Magnum pad by the way. The Past actually works pretty well in my opinion.

I will probably never shoot it off the bench. At over 100 foot pounds free recoil that seems a bit risky. I will try a forked stick rest, like they use in Africa. I put sights on it and hope to find a suicidal hog this summer. So, I need to sight it in. From what I have observed so far the amount of recoil induced movement, before the bullet leaves the barrel, is significant. Shooting off a bench may have a significantly different point of impact that off hand or the long stick rest. If kill a hog I will report back in.
