I'm loading this bullet with 68 grs. of RL15 and 70 grs. of RL15. 68 gives 1" groups 70 gives 1.5-2". Should I go with the more accurate load or more velocity?

What velocities are you getting? We're working with this bullet in our .375s as well. I'll try to dig up some of the data.

I'm seeing the same phenomenom in my .300 H&H with the 168gr TSX. 69gr RL-19 shoots into .75" but 70 gr opens the group to 2". Weird.

I have no chrono! I just cut back on x bullet data. Contrary to Barnes guidance for TSX, 72 grs. max load for the X bullet gave me pressure signs with the TSX.

I'm getting 2480 fps with that bullet and 67.5 grains of IMR4064 and it shoots sub MOA if I do my part.

Here's a 1.5" 8 shot group I shot with this load. It should have been MOA but I pulled the last shot.

Try 76gr of H-414 Winchester brass and Fed 215 primers. IMR 4064 is good also as well as H-4350 . jorge

I have yet to chrony my loads but 70 grains of Reloader 15 with the 300 gr Barnes gave met 1.125" group, 71 grains gave me .5", 72 grains went over an inch and 73 grains I messed the whole group up with my poor shooting so I'm re-shooting the string starting with 71 and will work up through 74 grains. At 73 grains the bolt lift was easy and no pressure signs, shooting in 80 degree weather.
My rifle is a 24" barreled Win M70 Classic stainless.

Hi Sitori

Just stick with the 68 gns as the velocity will be fine. To calculate the approx velocity shoot a group at 100yds then 200 or 300 and see the drop, then go to the Norma website and play with their ballistic calculator.
The drop in velocity will not effect the efficiency of the bullet on plains game out to 250yds but a drop in accuracy might. Just compensate for the greater drop at those distances.

Regards

Mark

Time to go by a chrony considering it is only priced at a couple boxs of X bullets.

It is well worth it you well save that in bullet costs just knowing what you are doing.

If the first load is giving you the vel and groups you want you well not have to waste the bullets or powder on testing the others.

They are something every reloader needs.

"All rifles are individuals, and what may be a maximum load in one might be quite mild in another, and vice-versa." Bob Hagel This is still true!

I'd use the 68-grain load, as it is more accurate, no doubt plenty powerful enough, and is not as likely to jump to excessive pressures if you use it in a hot climate (Africa).
