For the experienced hunters out there, how would you rate the Nosler 375 dia. 300 gr Partition versus the Norma 375 dia. 300 gr Oryx bullet as a DG bullet? I've been shooting the Partition in my 375 and have no experience regarding the 300 gr Oryx bullet. I thought I'd ask where it fits in the lineup. I have not shot any DG with the 300gn Norma oryx, but I got 2 mooses with it last season. In my opinion it is a extremely soft bullet that might work well on soft game, but it is not a choice for me on anything that could bite back. It will expand all the way down to the base, leaving an almost flat bullet. Great diameter, but lacking penetration. I did not get an exit wound on a 80 yard broadside heart shot on a cow moose, and unfortunately the kids stole the bullet during skinning/cleaning. It did leave an exit wound on a moose calf from 20 yards though... I could put my thumb in the entry wound and 4 fingers in the exit wound. Broadside top of heart shot, in between ribs, no bone hit except of one rib on exit side. For me, although the bullet comes from Sweden, I would choose either the partition or the SAF for DG and perhaps use the Oryx for smaller PG. The SAF makes a nice hole in and out and seems to expand nicely as well. I have 5 oryx bullets left and do not intend to buy more of them. I have bought the SAF in the same price range and to me thats a much better choice for the money spent. Sincerely Daniel | |||
