After more than 6 years of waiting, I finally received my Montana PH stainless action with .505 Gibbs bolt face. I will post some pictures tomorrow. Although the action definitely needs some "finishing" from a competent gunsmith, there is something intoxicating about the beastly action...

Look forward to the pics of the bolt face; is there a thicker steel rim than found on other magnum actions eg CZ or GMA? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- “A man can never have too much red wine, too many books, or too much ammunition” ― Rudyard Kipling

Yes the edge rim around rthe boltface is thicker as the bolt is larger diameter. It is .105" bigger dia bolt than CZ.Ed MZEE WA SIKU

After just 2 years of waiting, I finally received my Montana PH stainless action with .416 Rigby bolt face on Wednesday. Does your firing pin protrude out of the bolt face after firing? Mine doesn't. Did you work your safety a few times while cocked? Kevin

I sure hope it retracts/rebounds after firing but does protrude briefly after it is cocked and the trigger is pulled.

Kevin, If you know how to dissassemble the FP assembly from the bolt make sure there is not somethign inside the bolt prohibiting the FP from goign through the bolt. Every action is proof tested and the FP's are set to .055 - .062", so my guess is there is something that got into the bolt that is prohibiting the FP from falling. If you don't feel comforatable doing that contact me and we can get it back in here to get checked immediately.
