Any suggestions where I could get a replacement stock? It's got the Yugo action.

Give me a few days and I'll send you pictures of a spare I have. It's off a Zastava/Remington 798. Dave

If you want synthetic, you can go with McMillan or another maker. It is basically a M98/FN Supreme style footprint but may need some adjustment. I picked up a McMillan but am having a walnut stock fitted to my .375. You might be able to fit a Mauser take-off if you can locate one, assuming you are handy. I am not... ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

I don't want to screw this up, so if I can get a stock close to fitting the action, I'll take it to a buddy of mine to smith for fit. I'd love to go with a walnut stock, that's my preference, but if my best option is synthetic then I'm fine with that.

This gun is pretty interesting. It's a run of the mill Yugoslavia Interarms Whitworth in .375. Sucker barely has been used and doesn't look like it's had 100 rounds through it. The stock is what I can't figure out. I know that a lot of these actions have been shipped and assembled elsewhere, but the only stocks I've seen have been walnut of varying degrees of quality. This stock is laminate but a little unusual and obviously one that someone has put on, but apparently didn't shoot it. I wonder if this was done before import in Manchester or if a private individual did some smithing on their own. A bit of a non-sequitur, but I'm always interested in the back story. The guy I bought it from didn't really know much about it and certainly didn't shoot it much.

Bell & Carlson makes one that is nearly a drop-in fit. If you go that route make sure you get the one for the Interarms Mk-X and not the one for the M98. They also offer them in several colors and color patterns. .

Two other things to watch. If the safety has been changed out or you plan to change out the safety, it will make a difference in the inletting. You can fill the gap left by the factory side safety in either a walnut or synthetic stock, but if you have the original safety and pick up a stock for one that has been modified, you will have to make room for it. You also need to pay attention to whether you have the floor plate release inside the trigger bow or the one that rides in a slot in the stock, as it will affect fit. My McMillan was supposed to be a drop in fit for the Mark X but had to have the bolt handle slot cut out and the inletting for the bottom metal was too long and had to be filled. In addition, the area left by the original safety was filled. ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

I have a .458 in a B&C Medalist, the ones with the aluminum skeleton. Fit is fine, looks fine, just had to open the barrel channel and remove the barrel- mounted recoil block from the rifle (screwed on). I later bedded it. They allow you to order special LOP if you need it. I believe I had to tinker around with inlet for the side safety, but it was minor.

FWIW I saw a NIB .375 Whitworth barreled action at a gun show near Philly several years ago. I still wish I had purchased it. It had an odd safety but otherwise looked like any other Whitworth stripped of its stock.

Almost any Interarms Mark X stock will work, depending on the floorplate release. Ebay usually has one or two. NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS. Shoot & hunt with vintage classics.

They all should work. If the replacement was not made for the cross pin release it just takes a couple hits with a file and touch up. As usual just my $.02 Paul K
