I'm awaiting my forthcoming Searcy PH model in .470. Butch has promised it before fall. Butch sent me pictures of a bunch of stock blanks and I picked out on that was straight-grained in the wrist and marbled on further toward the butt. I'm getting excited.

I MAY decide to sell my Cogswell & Harrison .475 Nitro 3.25". When I get to the office this morning, I'll post the latest group I shot with it. I have a lifetime of brass and loaded ammo, dies, Woodleigh bullets, etc. At present, I'm having the wood all steamed out, bluing touched up, etc. It already had a (very well done) replacement stock so tweaking it isn't a no-no. The rifle is like a brick. Tough as hell and useful. Anyone interested? I've even got the maker's case... beat up as hell, though.

I MAY also sell my .375 Express 2.5" double, too.

Just testing the waters. I want a particular double rifle I found in a garage on blocks.

JudgeG,

Could you post some pictures of the stock blank you pick out? It would be interesting to see the blank as it is now, compaired to the finished gun later!

Are you having the Searcy fitted with QD scope mounts?
If I ever order a new made double I know I will.

As I flee from the Mau Mau's:

I'll call Butch today and see if he still has them. I erased the file because it was so big and it cluttered up the e-mail inbox.

I'm not ordering scope mounts on this one. I AM however open to scope mounts on the .303 or 7x57R or whatever I find in someone's dead uncle's lost cache!

I just don't think that a scope on a .470 double is what I want. I'm not going to shoot an unwounded buffalo farther than 40 yards, and if my eyes won't let that happen, I'll use my .458 Lott which has a 2.5x Leupold on QD mounts.

Actually, I even used the flip up 200 yard sight on my .375 Ex this year on a black wildebeest. It was facing directly at me and I aimed between the eyes, figuring the bullet would drop into the neck or chest if my range estimation was wrong. Dang if the bullet didn't enter about 1/2" above the right eye! Did I think I was cool!!!!

I can't wait to hunt with the fellow members of the Double Rifle Shooters Society. I'll post a picture from the office of me wearing my hat in Africa.

Judge, I just thought that a 470 double with a scope and 350grain bullets would make a good pig and black bear over bait rifle.
I hope you have it in time and can go on our next Camp Cooley hog/eland hunt. What load are you going to have Butch regulate your rifle with?

NitroX:

I will be difficult, but I want to buy a H&H .303 double. It and the Searcy would be about perfect in my weak mind.

And #2:
I hunt hogs and bears with my recure or longbow... and/or with the "light" double I hope to get.

Someday I'll tell the story of the picture. It was not my brightest hour.
