My question is when are the NRA and some well-heeled (made of money) gun owners going to sue the State of California in Federal court (any carry it all the way to the Supreme Court) for violation of civil rights under the 2nd Amendment? You folks out on the left coast have simply got to carry the fight to them. When Ann Richards was Governor of Texas, she vetoed the first attempt at a Concealed Carry law (which was passed by a Democrat controled legislature no less) and was promptly voted out of office in favor of George W. Bush who made passage of the legislation one of his first priorities. If Ann Richards had simply complied with the wishes of the people she would have won re-election easily and W. would probably still be the managing owner of the Texas Rangers. A similar situation has evolved to where Bob Holden, the governor of Missouri, didn't even win his own party's nomination for re-election - a first in history I believe.

Jeff, Quote: Think so. Check this out and you will know why it will be the "Terminator" for President in 2008. I just hope the voters remember what he did when he runs for re-election as governor. Lawdog

Paul H, I KNOW you just hit the proverbial nail on the head! The California law is unconstitutional plain and simple! The Feds tax us gun owners to death, but they haven't banned anything, because they CANNOT! The NRA never admits that, for the very reason you stated they don't want to "have to win" a 2nd Amendment court battle. They would LOSE MILLIONS of dollars overnight! By the way, I am so happy I unloaded all my prebans several years ago. Now when is W goin' to undo the damage his Daddy did with the ban on the importation of military style rifles. I would love to once again buy FN, H&K, Valmet, etc. ASS_CLOWN

Don't forget he's also a member of the Shriver/Kennedy family! This has got to be the stupidest, most politically sucking-up-to-the-Michael-Moore-Gun=Control-Fanatics of anything I've heard about lately. I obviously won't be moving to Kalifornia.

Any details on the ban? I assume all guns already in private possession are grandfathered.

Quote: I honestly think the NRA is afraid to win a 2nd amendment fight. If they win, and the 2nd amendment is held up to what it means, then there won't be millions of dollars pooring into their coffers from hunters and shooters concerned about the 2nd amendment. Call me cynical, but I find the NRA more interested in raising money, then in supporting the 2nd amendment.

See the Gun Owners of California web site and Fifty Caliber Institute web site for details. Also note this information from the Fifty Caliber Institute on how government "works" in that state: "Shortly after voting to send the fifty caliber ban to a well-deserved grave, California Democrats called for a "re-vote" and we watched as a handful of Democrats pressed the vote button at their own desk, then calmly walked to the empty desk of another member of the Assembly and voted a second time. This, we learn, is what California Legislators call "Ghost Voting." Nobody there is shocked because "they do it all the time." What they casually call "ghost voting" seems like a complete abrogation of the whole voting concept. So who gets two votes? Does anybody get three? What can California residents hope for when their fundamental system of government has been reduced to a series of childish games?"
