Gentlemen

This is not what W.J. Jeffery & CO. LTD

had in mind back in August 21 1928

Note the death crimp This is possible due to the angel of the grooves.

The steel plate infront of the tips is a anti recoil spring contraption so that the tips do not get deformations under recoil.

Cheers,

Andr

How do you cut the square hollow point? It should expand into 4 nice petals.

Dan,

The square hole appears to have been drilled with an endmill and then broached square to me.

Andre,

I await the results of your tests! I completely understand your issues with finding a place to test bullets/ballistics. Ranges are so damned formal, a real pain the arse.

500 grain

The hole is first drilled and then a hard tool ,made especially for the process, is pressed/punched into the hole.

Martin

A good crimp is needed in the BIG bores due to the recoil.
Might aswell do it right

I might try a star shaped tip if the square do not work well. I got this advice from Mike at North fork.

Martin,

You need that kinda crimp to keep the bullets from "moving" around and/or overiding a lesser crimp and swelling the neck OD.

Not in a literal sense, but I would imagine the impact energies imparted to the bullets during recoil may be closer to your statement than you imagine. The Woodleigh SP left in the magazine after a shot or two will be very flattened out!

Andre,

When do you think you will get to have some fun and test those bad boyz out?

This weekend I hope.
Getting about 40 phone-books and a place to play is not easy.
I do not want to waste the bullets on targets.

I was joking ass-clown

I don't think it really has much more recoil then my 460 or 416 or my 35x378 and my little 45/70 GS has more recoil then my Ruger M 77 in 458 with full house load's

Hey.!! Ass-Clown
Did we talk once about me making you up some sample bullet's for you to try out ? in one of your rifle's ?

Pottsy,

Thanks for the info, I will be in touch. Judy is my wife's handle and I am too lazy to logout and back in.

Can you PM with more specifics on Al's bullets. I may email him to, but that would require more effort, and I am lazy.
