I am not able to provide you the information you requested on Winchester Model 70 and using Talley's. However, I just mounted a short Leupold M8 2.5x compact on a CZ Safari. Before I ordered the scope mounts I called Talley up and they were very helpful in determining what I needed. The scope and mounts work great! I switched over 10 rifles to Talley's in the last few months and will continue to switch over remainder. You can call Talley...get their number off the Internet ....JJS

358 Norma, I have Talley QD's on a M70 Classic 375 H&H (with .330 rear hole spacing). With these mounts my Leupold VX III 1.75-6 x 32 just fits & tube length is 5.39 inches. Almost no adjustment avail for eye relief so lucky the relief is generous on Leupolds. My first scope choice was the Leup 2.5-8 with tube length of 5.1inch, that was too short to fit. With the 1.75-6 & the 5.39 inch tube length I have about 0.1 inch adjustment & that's all. As to how high I don't know, mine are low. I know a 3-9 x 40 Vari X III will clear easy, so you may be OK with Lows. You probably know already but Talley lows aren't really that low. Regards John

358, Talley has a front extension base that moves the front ring back for the scopes with short tubes. I use one on my 458 Lott from the Winchester Custom shop to mount a Schmidt & Bender 1.5-6x42mm scope. And I am using the Low rings. This set-up should work fine for your application.

358 Norma, The Talley 1"rings on my 375 H&H Classic Stainless are 5.283inches or 134.18mm from the rear of the rear ring to the front of the front ring. the 30mm rings should have the same spacing. I believe that you will want the Low rings. I've got a call in to my buddy to see if the lows worked with his 30mm rings and 50mm scope I'll post back when I get a reply.......DJ

OK, thanks for your replies. My Nikon tube measures 131,4mm or 5,1732 inches, so that leaves me with no other option: Get the Talley extension setup. Problem solved! Regards /Johan
