Anyone try the .474" Northfork CPS projectile in a Searcy yet? Can they be loaded to regulate properly? Seems to be a darned fine bullet ... wondering if they'd do well in my DR. I think forumite lb404 used them in his Searcy with very good results. I have used Bridger and GS Custom bullets in my Searcy with great results as well. Just use the same powder charge as usual, and they will regulate. That's the beauty of a Searcy. They are not finicky.

You can also PM that Ideeho cowboy about his Northfork loads on his 470 Searcy. He just waxes eloquently about them and thinks it's almost the next best thing to sliced bread and Colorado Kool-aid. Oops that be me (Ideeeho cowboy that waxes!) I have shot perhaps a dozen buffalo with the 470 and Northfork cup points and flat nose solids...The cup point is absolutly the finest bullet for buffalo I have ever used, and by a mile..... The both regulated in my Searcy with all loads I tried and shoot great..but the Searcys are about as forgiving for POI as any gun I have shot including bolt guns....My gun shoots everything I load to the same POI, hope your as fortunate... My loads for the cup point and the flat nose solids are 108 gr.s of IMR-4831 at 2245 and/or 85 or 87 grs. of RL-15 with 5 grs. of dacron or Kynoch foam fillers for a muzzle velocity of 2020 PFS or 2140 FPS respectively.. I can only speak for the Searcy and and don't know if these bullets should be used in an English gun, however I did use GS Custom bullets in my Army/Navy and jefferys 450-400s with no ill effects... Truly the Northforks are the best thing since sliced white bread and Texas Koolaid, whats Colorado Koolaid taste like??? IMO, the North Fork cup, and square point solids are the only Mono-metel bullet that can be used in ANY double rifle new, or used, somkeless, or BPE! The rifleing only touches the driveing bands, are made of pure copper, and are not as hard on barrels as some jacketed lead core bullets with deviders in them! I will use nothing else in my doubles unless NF stops makeing them. In that case I may have to turn them out on a lathe, myself! ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith
