sierrabravo45You think you have a "Big Bore"
I know you guys like hunting with the big bores and so do I. Check out the website. It makes it look like we all hunt with pee shooters.
You think you hunt with big stuff. This is called a Big Bore.

BusMaster007I'm waiting for someone to complain about 'meat damage'...

Then there's the old adage with a new twist...

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

That sort of comment was what got me in my first pissing match with Allen Day last year. Only he was much ruder in his opinion that you.
What about that is any less sporting that a 30 yd shot in some shotgun state? Assuming that it really happened and those aren't "after the fact" bullet holes, what about this is unsportsman like?

Albeit just a little redneck fun. If we all had the ways and means, we would have something off the wall too. I wouldnt shoot it at animals though. Ok, well maybe a flock of blackbirds or crows though. I hate blackbirds. damn shit monsters.

THIS is what a canister round looks like from a 12lb. Mountain Howitzer. I'm not trying to start any argument here because I HATE arguing

, but there is a
HUGE DIFFERENCE in a canister round fired from a "War of Northern Agression" 12lb. Mountain Howitzer and a round of "buckshot" that tends to contain only 15 pellets of 00 Buckshot from a 12 guage. Take a look, surely you must agree with this statement?!?

BTW, 00 Buck is .33 caliber while, canister fires .72 caliber "buck."
You are correct in any deer that is dead is a dead deer, but it is in the sportsman like manner in which we "harvest" the animal that makes the difference, IMHO.

On a side note, the dynamic shock on the deer must have ensured for a quick and painless death.

JC,
as usual, your witty comments are amazingly accurate.
here's the deal..
this AINT for me... sure enough...
now, if you think it takes any LESS skill to take than with a rifle... try this...
take your most accurate scoped rifle..
take of the scope...
(if it has sights) don't use the irons..
just line up a place "way down range"...
wait for a deer to walk by (it's okay if you have scouted the place and KNOW one will)
and without holding the gun (use a tripod/bipod?) discharge the weapon at the deer..
Would be interesting to see a hit ratio!!

tiggertateMy point was not to flame either (although that's what happened the other time, I'm afraid).
I just don't share the idea that there is too much gun in any hunting scenario. And as far as ethics, I don't see any real difference between this and any other hunting from a blind; both are ambush styles intended to take an animal by surprise.
Frankly, the means by which the animal is taken matters not to me as long as it is at least as humane and effective as other acceptable technologies (and not overly wasteful of meat, in my case). This was certainly as humane as archery or any single-projectile firearm.
That assumes, of course that the story is real. There have been some interesting comments about the wound characteristics that throw a little reasonable doubt on the whole thing. Also, they use that same buck for three product endorsements from different folks in the photo section which I find to be less than honest.
