I've heard numerous stories on the effectiveness of this projectile. What is real and what is imagination when it comes to the capabilities of this round @ approximately 2800 fps? Just wondering since I predominantly use the Swift A-frames on live game. Thank you all, jfm

Well, I've taken 15 different African plains game animals up to the size of zebra, gemsbok, and blue wildebeest with this bullet. Of these, 14 died from one shot and all were complete pass throughs with no recovered bullets. Number 15 was a very large eland that took a lethal hit and just stood with legs braced out without going down. He was shot twice more just to make sure he stayed put. The second broadside shot was a pass through. Bullets 1 and 3 were recovered and looked just like the Barnes adds witH perfect curled petals. The load used is 75 gr RL 15' TSX 270 gr, and Win LR primers in Hornady brass. "Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult."

I have seen it used on a number buffalo and it was very effective, and many of those bullets were recovered under the off side skin, and others were pass thrus, so I'll call it good....I'm a heavy bullet fan but the 270 monolithic is the equivlent of a 300 gr. super premium I suspect. However were I to pick a monolithic for buffalo I would personally try the 300 gr. and expect it to be unstoppable and pass thru buff 99% of the time and hopefully land in some Alquida group meeting in Dar es Salaam! I have seen a couple found in brown bear and one from a moose. All performed very well. Its the bullet I'm currently shooting out of my 375 RUM.

My personal opinion is that if you start shooting the TSX, it will be the only bullet you shoot from then on, except solids where needed. I've recovered very few TSX's and almost all of them have been one shot kills, ranging from Whitetail, Elk, Moose, Caribou, Brown Bear (X2), all kinds of African plains game ranging from Steinbuck to Eland, Cape Buff (x4), Lion (x2), Leopard (x2). The Swift is also a good bullet but I like the TSX more because the Swift ends up as a neat little smooth ball like mushroom where the TSX has those 4 razor sharp, jagged petals that rip and tear as the bullet spins.

I have been using .375 270 grain TSXs since 2004, in 2 different rifles. At a nominal 2725 fps great accuracy and penetration. I have shot Plains Game from Impala to Zebra and a couple of Cape Buffalo, only recovering 1 bullet over the years. The TSX is a fantasic bullet...I see no need for another 270 grain bullet in the 375s unless I was hunting Elephant...but then I would use a solid, go up in caliber and bullet weight.

Thanks all. I just recently started shooting the 270 grain TSX and I can't believe the penetration I am getting. I just haven't tried it out on any game of significant size/weight. I believe I may have to give it a go. Again, thanks. jfm

If a 270gr TSX .375 is OK what is wrong with the 450gr TSX .458? ____________________________________________ "If a man can't trust himself to carry a loaded rifle out of camp without risk of shooting somebody, then he has no business ever handling a rifle at all and should take up golf or tennis instead."
