Jim posts on AR on the "gunsmithing" section, every so often. I have had a P-64 Mod. 70 bolt built by him and other parts from him and met him by driving 3+ hours from Vancouver, BC, to his place at Chehalis, WA.

I will flatly state that Jim's quiet, rather self-effacing manner and slow, thoughtful speech tend to somewhat mask a man who is among the VERY FINEST "gun artists" I have ever seen and I suspect that other top makers will concur.

Jim is a gentleman and if you can get him to build you a rifle, NOBODY can do it "better" and damm few as well.

I wish he would move to BC and build rifles and parts here!

if he did move, you wouldn't let him hunt there, being a foreigner and all. oh well, i guess he would be allowed to target shoot.

Yes it is CRF. And Jim Wisner is one of the 20 most well know guys in the trade as near as I can figure. He is a straight shooter and generous to boot.

Jim is one of those odd gentleman gunsmiths that actually has good business sense. If you work with him you will get an outstanding product along with great customer service.

I too have met Jim and he is a first rate guy. It is my understand that he was one of the few enfield specialists, however that he no longer takes on gunsmithing jobs. (he might, that's just what I heard).

enfields of course are controlled round feed action. but I don't think they are right for you, you should put this person in touch with me. -D

you should see his bottom metal and magazine box, wing safety, etc for the P-14/17/30S rifles. I have a set on my 550 Gibbs and it is like jewelry in steel...

A lucky friend has three Wisner-built P14's. 416 Rigby, 450 Dakota, and 505 Gibbs.

I feel the same way about the two Mauser bottom metal assemblies I purchased from Jim. It is a shame to hide them in the stock.

These photos don't show the important stuff. These boxes are the correct width for their cartridges and they are machined to very tight specs.
