All right, just trying to spark discussion, why and when did the move from the 1:17 and then 1:16 twist Rigby was using in the 416's to the 1:14 that is popular now take place? thoughts on this and what not. Was it some gunwriter made a mistake in an article and ever since people have gone with that? Did a company in the US start that way and everybody followed suit? anybody got a conspiracy theory? :-) Red My rule of life prescribed as an absolutely sacred rite smoking cigars and also the drinking of alcohol before, after and if need be during all meals and in the intervals between them. -Winston Churchill

I don't know when But I put the fastest twist on my 416 that douglas had. Couldn't be happyer. Shoots all bullets weights into one hole most of them under 1 inch.. I always favored a faster twist on my rifles maybe more people do now days.

All the verious twists will work fine in a good barrel, with heavy bullets, and most will work fine with most weights for hunting purposes! ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith
