Thomas Mwitch dies for 500A2?
I got the reamer and the barrel has been ordered and now I need to get some loading dies. I rather go cheap than some custom RCBS@300$.
Will the CH4D be ok in this callibre?
Does someone know the price for Redding custom 500A2?
Are there other alternatives?
I have the new Lee cast press wich accept the larger threads if nessesary.
Thanks

jeffeossoch4d is the cheapest, though a killed machinest could modify 460wby..

Thomas MMy smith is what i would call a killer machinest. I believe he can do allmost anything.
What is required to modify standard 460 wby dies? Is the A2 round improved or is it only a standard 460 whith a bigger bullet? If its a standard wby it would only require to make a bigger "hole" for the neck and then some "chamfering" of the new radius?
Perhaps this subject has been discussed here before?`
This sounds like very good news for my thin wallet

jeffeossoThomas,
you will need a loading die reamer print (contact dave manson at precision reamers) and a set of 460 dies
anneal the dies (torch them very hot, glowing, let them cool by them selves)
and then your smith can turn them in his lathe (if he can.. but 460die sets are cheap)

Thomas MOk, but it seems that a pair of CH4D will be cheaper in the end.
Thanks

willmckeei got CH dies for my 500 jeffery because a) were less than half price of rcbs and b) were sitting on a shelf and thus on my doorstep 3 days later. work perfectly in every respect. but when i asked why their dies weren't recommened more often instead of much more expensive ones, the responses ran abt 10:1 of people being unhappy w/ them. am sticking w/ my own personal experience and that's what i'm getting for my 500 NE #1 if i ever get around to finishing it.

Paul HWith my 500 Jeffrey CH4D dies, I had to lap out the seating die, because it was bored for a .505" dia bullet

I could have sent it back to be fixed, but I figured if they couldn't make it right the first time, perhaps I'd be better off fixing it myself.
They also charged me more than the price listed on their website.
I believe Redding custom dies are much more reasonably priced than RCBS, and they are higher quality.
