jro45I've never heard of Empire rifles. Who makes them?

RustyGeorge had a deadly looking 505 in his booth at Dallas. It looked like it could kill on both ends! George has always been a great guy to deal with.

Charles_HelmCall me crazy, but I think he wants to hear from someone who has purchased one, not the pwner of the company.

jeffeossoCharles,
george is a friend of mine, so I am biased. The actions are NOW CNC mausers, and can be had in lefty.
Jim
23 months ago? Wow- when is the last time you called and asked for an update?
30 January 2009, 20:42
Jim in MII think I called maybe 5-6 months ago. If memory serves I called at 12 months and at 18 months and asked if they lost my contact info. Regretfully, they had my contact info but no rifle to contact me about.

390ishshot a warthog and an impala with a lefty 375 this summer. was a friend's rifle. he had to stay in camp that day. fine rifle. felt like it weighed 20lbs less than my ruger 458 lott. would like to have an empire myself. my buddy is probably going to order one in 257 weatherby sometime this year.

BuliwyfI understood that Bill Wiseman & Co. was deeply involved in Empire.

eezridrEmpire makes very nice rifles and I own a few rifles rebarreled by Bill Wiseman and those guns will shoot!
If their is a percieved issue on delivery of these guns ( I think all customs require some patience) you might want to talk to John Bollinger. Talk about nice work! From a visual perspective, they are are a cut above Empire and the prices reflect it.
I have been wanting a custom 404 Jef. and was looking hard at Empire and decided to keep saving my money for the Bollinger,
They are making their own model 70 action out of S 7 steel but can make a gun on a pre 64 or Mauser action as well. I think they start at about $13K with nice english walnut. You might get the price down a bit with a less costly piece of lumber.

jeffeossostarting at 13K ..
Okay, I'll grant you, Bollinger makes a nice rifle, and if you buy the same options, for nearly 3X what empire changes for the same rifle.
No one else offers this, starting at 6K

lavacaHeard he was doing some of the Empire work. If Bill Wisemann is involved, the rifle will shoot. I have a .416 Rem Mag. he built that has taken everything from Cape Buffalo to turkey with one-shot kills -- and can guarantee a one hole -- less than MOA group at 100 yards off the bench. Bill's a great smith and a good guy as well.

dogcatI went to his facility last summer to check them out. George is the owner and the guy that gets the orders and ships the rifles. He has the actions made in one place, then ships to a fellow to add the barrel, then to another for the stock work.
I saw several of the guns. They look great and he stands behind them. He lives and works in the area in New Hampshire that in "amongst" a lot of gunsmiths and manufacturers - Ruger, Remington, NECC and others.
He offers a quality product from what I could tell.

lee440You guys need to spend more time watching Discovery Channel! They said Turkeys were direct descendants of Velociraptors I believe. A .416 would be just right!
