Correct my thinking if it is wrong. Please.

To avoid having to inside-ream and outside-turn necks, unless you just want to:

1. Make up the dummies with good concentricity.
2. Measure the case neck diameter of the loaded ammo.
3. Make the chamber neck 0.004" bigger in diameter than the loaded ammo neck.

Simple as that?

I like Neck-1 (at shoulder) = Neck-2 (at case mouth) for a parallel chamber neck.

Then the throat ...

Ron! That's what I've always hoped they'd be. Hoping that's exactly what Mr. Manson will do once he gets the specifics of the .375 Ruger case. As soon as he sends me the info, I'll put it on-site.

Thank you. That will be very helpful for the .395 Family.

Measuring the .375 Ruger case neck diameter:

loaded ammo: .402"

fired case: .406" from my factory rifle

Necking up the case to .395 bullet instead of .375 should add .020" to the neck diameters, though it might thin the neck brass a wee bit like .001" per side.

So .395 Ruger loaded ammo neck diameter might be .420" to .422"

I figure the chamber reamer should have a neck diameter of .424" to .426" for the .395 Ruger. SWAG: 0.4250" has a nice, adequate ring to it.

It will be interesting to see what you and Dave come up with. thumb

prof242,
Gerard's Manson reamers for the the .395 GSC have a neck of 0.4232" diameter for finish reamer/chamber spec.

My .395 Tatanka and 398 Lapua reamers have a neck diameter of .4280". This corresponds to my brass neck diameter of .4250".

Yep, when Dave manson says he will have something delivered in 4 to 6 weeks, he means it.

The first ever ".395" reamers have arrived. thumb

Thanks for the update, RIP. Haven't had much time lately with new job, lefthand mini-mauser being made into .250 Savage, and a grandson wanting the .25-06 finished that Grandpa promised. I've got to call Manson next week. for my reamer. Also, when will the bullets be ready to order? Long time before I'll be able to shoot them, but might as well get what I can when I can.

prof242,
We should have some bullets soon. Gerard has been tied up with producing the needed inventory for the AIM show in RSA, and some machinery parts/technical misadventures to complicate things.

I'll be sure to post more soon as I know, which means as soon as Gerard lets us know. thumb
