I have a Timber carbine and am trying to intsall a hammer extension. I have the round one that screws into the side of the hammer. My problem is that the extension will not allow the bolt to fully extend. the hammer extension hits the side of the tang. Bad gun, wrong part??? Appreciate your help. Phil

Hey Smoker: I have a Marlin M-444P, it's about 2 years old! The hammer extension I use is the one that came with the gun! With the lever pushed all the way forward, I have better than 1/8 inch clearance both above and below the hammer extension. The extension is mounted out to the end of the hammer!
This extension is round, has a groove cut in it that slides over the hammer, then in the end of the extension there is a hex head setscrew that tightens against the side of the hammer!
If nothing else, maybe contact the company and see what they suggest.
Good luck;

Just wondering! Are you trying to put the extension under the hammer, or on top of the hammer?
It will fit either way, but it's supposed to go on top of the hammer!

This is a Winchester model 94 and the hammer extension that comes with the rifle is supposed to thread into a tapped hole located on the side of the hammer very near the center. I called Winchester and they want me to send the rifle back. I really would rather not do that. I have fired the rifle and it functions just fine. I'm almost tempted to chuck it in my drill press and take off .050 or so. Phil

Smoker;
Sorry about the mix-up!
Terminology is ever-changing!

Hope you get it fixed!
