If you do want a step up from 375 for buffalo then you would be pleased with the mild recoiling but hard hitting 404.
IMO the ideal buffalo hunting calibre.
And if you can find somewhere that you can shoot and load off hand. Then just shoot as much as possible of shooting sticks and off hand at say twenty to fifty meters.

This is the off hand practice target I like to use.

Or if the opportunity arises,

A real asset to the 375 is it's versatility. It shoots flat enough to take the guess work out of 300 yard shots and has enough penetrating capabilities to fulfill most hunting challenges with a 300 gr bullet.
You can get about the same trajectory using a 416 Rem with 350 gr Barnes X bullets and have about the the same SD & BC. You get more punch without loosing versatility.
Might be a option moving up without sacrificing the 375 benefits.

On the rice in NSW a .222 comes in very handy (with a suitable back stop such as the rice paddy bank)

Because it's cheap and ammo is readily available.
