What are your opinions of a Brno 602 in 375 H&H?

What is one worth, in EX + condition?

Thanks

Remember that the safety is backwards, so you need to budget $150 to convert it to a model 70 style. If you can live with a cz550, that saves you the safety cost.

The value of a 602 is capped by the price of a new cz550. In my area a cz550 goes for $650 new, so a 602 in perfect shape would bring $600.

Gatehouse,

I shoot a BRNO M602 in .375 H&H, and it is a well-built rifle with what looks to me like a good design. Rigby of London previously used the action for their .450 Rigby rifles, but they did a lot of work going from BRNO--->Rigby.

I changed out the bolt tailpiece and safety for a M70 style unit because I could not get used to the backwards safety.

If you find one with the pop-up aperture sight, that is a big plus. I see a lot of CZs for sale and very few BRNOs now a days.

The 602's are worth about $600U.S. in excellent condition. I prefer them to the CZ550's and don't mind the "backwards" saftey. Think of the old hammer guns that required you to cock the hammer back to shoot. You can get a M-70 type safety from Precise Metalsmithing if you must. The overall finish isn't all it could be either but these rifles offer good features and are alot of gun for the money.

I bought my 602 375 H & H for 457.00 with QR rings about an year ago.

I really like the rifle and it shoots well with all loads I run through it. I have notice it has a very long throat and likes the 300 gr Hornady BTSP's in front of a nice charge of RL15. [Big Grin]

I have done nothing with it since but plan to change trigger and saftey.

Good Day

the 602 is a decent gun, if you can get it around 450-500 US, then it's good, that is, if it DOES NOT have the peep sight. go 600US for the peepsight

but, the 550 is a NICER finished gun, and you can get it 600 to 630 ALL DAY LONG on gunbroker.com. add the 40 bucks for shipping and transfer, you are ONLY paying 6.5% more for the gun, and way less than you would retail.

if you laid the 602 and 550 right next to each other, and said "either one, $600 buck, and it WAS NOT the peepsight, then it would be the 550, everytime... and the 550 came in 416 rigby.

If you can buy a 602 375H&H, excellent original condition, for $450-$500US, jump on it. I'll take it if you don't.

Other than the safety, is there anything BAD about a 602?

Why is a 550 preferrable?

I like both the 550 & 602 and if you can get it at the right price jump on it.
