I posted this in the African Forums but thought some here might be interested. Retreever (Mike) recently returned from a Buffalo and Elephant hunt in Zim and he posted a well written account of his adventure. http://www.accuratereloading.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=UBB1&Number=769194&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=21&fpart=all With Mikes' permission I am posting an email he sent to me along with a picture of the recovered bullets from his buffalo and elephant: J & B , Attached are the bullets recovered from buff and bull ele.. The first is a Barnes 450gr. X bullet hit right above the heart on the right side traveled thru to just behind the left shoulder bulging the skin on the far side...He went 15 yds. after hit and was down... The next two are Bridger solids the first penetrated the skull between the eyes but too low...Went below the brain but traveled over 20 + inches of penetration...The second Bridger I aimed for the shoulder and heart area as bull was spinning and as it hit him it traveled forward thru the front of the chest and continued all the way thru the neck to the left side but missing the vertebrae... The last bullet is a 500 Jeffery solid fired at he bull's left hip but missed the bone...But gave him a big PIA.... Mike The X bullet was from the buffalo and all of the solids were from the elephant I also want to let those interested know that I will once again be offering my Bridger Bullets FN solids. Although not "open for business" yet I am going to give it another try. I've restructured the process and will not be offering so many choices in calibers and weights. The inventory was too much to handle for a start up. I will start with one weight in each caliber and will not officially open until I have 10,000 of each bullet on the shelf. Expect a November/December opening. I will post more information as things progress. Starting with a list of calibers and weights later today or tomorrow. John BTW - Mikes elephant was the first ele, that I am aware of, shot with my bullets. He is also the first to recover one from an animal and must say I am pleased with the consistency (although I expected it). The one that went into bone looks identical to the one shot into soft tissue. John

Rob, Only 50" of penetration. Man and that CA oak is some really soft wood . All kidding aside that is phenomenal penetration. Wasn't it you that was splitting logs with my bullets? OK the start off list is: .375 - 270 gr .416 - 370 gr .423 - 370 gr .458 - 450 gr .474 - 500 gr .510 - 550 gr .550 - 700 gr .620 - 900 gr Once I'm off to the races I'll add: .358 - 225 gr .366 - 270 gr .550 - 600 gr .620 - 725 RN After that I'll see what the market wants and respond accordingly. I'm not taking any orders until I've got everything in place. I think I've got something people want and I want to do this right. Last time I rushed into the market before I had the support issues resolved. Not again. John

Even though I have more .620 Woodleigh solids than I'll ever shoot, I will buy some of your solids when you are ready. I stupidly canceled my 1 box order when you decided to stop production, instead of buying several boxes(a lifetime supply). I won't make the same mistake again.

I've been making a bit of progress on the 12 ga FH. Last weekend I chucked it up in a CNC lathe and rigged up an adjustable collar that fit the spindle and allowed for adjustment of the barrel into the center of the spindle. I was getting a TIR of .0002 from breach to muzzle. The set up worked really well. Then I just used a circle boring bar to contour out the chamber. I put the threads on at the same time. From start to finish it took about 2 hours. Now I've got to figure out which action to use. I'm thinking I may do a breach loader with a cam lock system. It would be simple to build and have very few moving parts. Besides it would be strong as hell. In fact the boring worked so well I'm going to do the 700BMG, 600BMG, 550-600 Ok, 510-600 OK and 474-600 OK the same way. I don't know haw any but I do have a few more of those hollow base bullets about if you want some more. John

John- That is great. We all can wait to give you time to get inventoried, so to speak. The work for me on 12GA FH brass will wait until you get rolling. The 12GA hollow base slugs you made me sure get a lot of praise herabouts from all who see them.Ed
