Just my opinion. They are both very good. Stuart does excellant work and Chris is very knowledgeable. I think Satterlee is a better value.

...I'm prejudiced since I own a GMA.

However, I'd suggest you contact several custom gunmakers and ask them which action requires less time (read money) for them to "smooth out" all the minor imperfections inherent in the manufactering process.

I'm not criticizing any of the other available actions, but to emphasize the importance of selecting the action which fits your needs and pocketbook.

Also,if you can attend the SCI convention, there will be a number of fine custom rifle builders in attendance. Take the time to speak with as many as possible. The quality work these folks accomplish is outstanding.

It is, after all, your money. Spend it wisely...I did.

My Granite Mountain Arms action is worked by Ryan Breeding. See his web page of http://www.rbbigbores.com/
The rifle is a Left Handed 505 Gibbs. And all who see it marvel at the smoothness of Breeding's work with the Granite Mountain action.
You have to see on to believe it. Ryan will be at SCI.

FWIW- I built one of my .600Ok's on a GMA action. Saying it needs some work is the understatement of the year. I'm not saying its a bad action, but its far from perfect and will indeed need a very skilled gunsmith if your doing anything outside of the norm. Its no drop in fix but it is well made and more adaptable to wildcats than many others. Expect to spend some money to get it right. -Rob

when you buy a GMA you will need to spend $ to get it right, with the Satterlee M 98 no work needs to be done, plus its machined from pre hardened 4140, the GMA is heat treated after machining and needs a lot of correcting at times!!the GMA can border on dissapointing at times
