S&H can turn out a precision product.
Design will be that of SHARRC FN brass solid type, with 7-degree-per-side truncated-cone FN with about a 57-caliber meplat FN, 5 drive bands and 4 places to crimp, about 0.64" long nose, slight boat tail for loading ease (about 70-cal boattail minimum diameter/"meplat"), and just under 1.3" long overall for the slug (1.2950").

Macifej can make these at a better price if 1000 can be spoken for.

The base could be drilled out on your drill press to lighten them for initial load development.

I would plan to use them in 3.5" 12g chamber with whatever plastic or brass hulls I can find until Nohbohzo, LLC can get the 3.85" 12GaFH brass on the market.

RIP- Whens my license arrives you can have all the cases and Rims you want. I played around yesterday and made 12 rims and 10 cases in about a hour. It was even simplier than I thought. I'll post pics on the 12GaFH thread later. If there is enough interest I'll make a big run next summer. But can supply a fair amount of stuff now.-Rob

Thanks for saving me from talking to myself again.

Great news on the brass developments. Makes me feel like I am 8 years old and Pop is about to let me shoot his 12 Gauge.

I now have a Savage 210 12Ga3" "Slug Warrior."
Will be following Ed's trail with that and the NEF/H&R "Ultra Slug." Will be going first to 3.5" chambers and stretching it out to 3.85" when I get a custom reamer.

The 12GaFH chamber should be a standard 3.5" neck and 5-degree forcing cone, just moved out to plus .350", eh?

Will Nohbohzo, LLC be offering a falling block single shot big enough for the 12GaFH?
If not then surely the demand created by your 12gaFH brass availability will soon lead Sturm Ruger to offer a 50% scaled-up No.1 which will be good for a 12 pound Quail Gun/Elephant Gun.

I will soon be able to quench the desire for 12aGafh CASES AND RIMS. This is simply not a problem. If a I sell enough I can get a EDM and then make actions. Till then the NEF or Encore are the way to go. You dont even need a reamer, a good machinist with a .500 boring bar can make a 12GaFH chamber in 10 minutes. Its really stupidly simple stuff.

An established reamer maker must have the specs of the 12GaFH. Why don't you send the specs to me or post them here so I can have Dave Kiff of PT&G make one with your blessing?

If no one is interested in the SHARRC right now, what is a good source of 1000-grain or heavier slugs of cup&core, or monometal brass or copper?

I will be making my own cast slugs, about 1400 grains.

High antimony "Magnum Shot" comes as 25 pound bags. That is about 5% antimony, right?

Adding 1/2 pound of 95/5 solder (tin/antimony) to 9.5 pounds of Magnum Shot will give something very close to Lyman No. 2. I will call it Rippalloy No. 2.
19 pounds of Magnum Shot
plus 1 pound of 95/5 solder
will fill my pot.

This mixture will be about:
90.25% lead
4.75% tin
5% antimony

Should have a BHN of greater than 15, water dropped.

This will be good to 2200 fps.

A 1400-grain Darwin Slug may not expand at all at 1400 fps on game. At 2200 fps it might expand from .730" to 1.460".

SD of .730"/1400-grain (3.2 ounces) = .375
What a nice number that is.

RIP, recently I looked briefly at an attempt at making a more "slippery" version of the Darwin slug, but could't get much improvement out of it. I think the projectile would have to be longer before it could be made substantially more slippery.
