They claim a weight of less than 14 pounds for this hog. Bare/empty weight surely.
That does make it interesting.
Please pass along, post here, any info you get to We Band of NUTs.

700 nitroits a really neet rifle but i will have a 505 bolt action so the only thing i might think of is the 408......but i wounder if they will make left handed versions..... it would be a neet pig gun.

tiggertateI bet he can do it in 550 Magnum, too. That would give you one more down

C.WathenIMO, its too bulky and ugly. Would make a fun gun to go plinking with, but even if Africa allowed semi-autos I wouldn't take it, and thats coming from a kid who doesn't even own a true big bore.
Cory
Still saving up for a .500NE double rifle(Searcy of course)
I wonder if the stock is wood or wood-grained plastic like a Daisy BB gun.
It is definitely ugly, and makes no sense in .505 Gibbs, but for plinking with a .408 Chey-Tac, would be a fun toy.

tiggertateIt looks to me a lot like the new Benelli rifle with a LOT of steroids. The stock looks like real walnut to me. I assume the muzzle brake removes a lot of the wear and tear on the wood
and the shooter.

Hog Killer.416 and .510 bore sizes would probably sell more units. Set up for 500A2 and milsurp BMG bullets, from the magazine would work for me. It would then qualify as a BAP(big ass plinker).

Very true, Hog Killer.
It would be nice as a .416/.408 Chey-Tac and a .510/.408 Chey-Tac, in addition to the .408 Chey-Tac. The 500 A-Square is just too easy to do on smaller actions like the CZ 550 Magnum bolt action, so I wouldn't care to duplicate that in this monster.
I just don't see the call for a .505 Gibbs at all, unless it was a .510/.505 Gibbs for a BAP.

Also, I would much rather have a bolt action repeater than the semi-auto, in any of these proposed calibers. Then there might be some conceivable need for the straight out .505 Gibbs, and if they could keep it under $3,000 US, it might sell to us NUTs.

Hog KillerRIP, I really think this beast is an answer looking for a question.
I noticed that there was NO mention of long range accuracy, at the web site. Sooo, must truely be a BAP.
Agree with the bolt action point of veiw.

I guess I am still waiting for Armalite to make an AR-408 for $1999, and shall wait a long time.

bigdoggy700Looks like another play toy to go after. What kind of delivery time and cost are we looking at?? Kind of ugly but kind of COOL !!
30 August 2006, 05:01
bigdoggy700For anyone wondering,
They are making 25 rifles at this time and plan to make 45 per year. The cost in either caliber is $12,000 and there is a 6 to 8 month delivery date on this first batch of rifles. 11 rifles are all ready spoken for with 14 still needing owners. 24" barrels and accuracy is 2" at 200 to 250 yards. Pretty expensive in my opinion but what isn't these days?

bulldog563Would much rather have a double or a high quality bolt gun.

RobgunbuilderIt's Nothing compared to a Barrett semi-auto in 12 GaFH. Just the thing to give Diane F the RUNS in Kalifornia! It doubles( thats a pun folks) as a punt gun when you load 3 oz of Number 6's! Change loads and your good to go for armoured vehicles. AP Sabot's at 4500fps!-Rob

$12,000 US is goofy for such a silly toy.

30 August 2006, 06:23
tiggertateAgreed, Rob. I'd much rather have a semi 12GaFH than just another 505. I like the Windrunner myself. Easy to switch barrels

RobgunbuilderWait till Ed Hubel reads this post. You know he's gonna have to build one too. Actually the Barrett semi- auto in 12 GaFH is a reality. It works and feeds pretty well. I still have to make a decent muzzell brake for it, but the bolt mods are not real difficult. Talk about max horsepower and the recoil with a good brake should be in the .458 win mag class. Way Cool!-Rob

500grainsCan you screw choke tubes on instead of that brake?

I can't look at a 12ga anymore without thinking about the demons that lurk therein!
Think of the possible "right and left" combos now. Bowl over a buff and catch the dumbfounded tickbird in a crossing wing shot.....

TimanSeems cool enough if you really think you are going to have the need for slinging serious amounts of lead in a big hurry.
Timan
If you can't get it with the first shot, just chase it down in the truck and get some lead in the air.
