In an older German magazine (Jagen Weltweit August/September 1999) they did a write-up a CZ550. They briefly mentioned their desire to free float the barrel by removing the screw that holds the barrel to the metal piece upfront (underneath the sights), removing the metal piece and grinding some room into the stock, to basically free-float the barrel. They couldn't do it because they had the rifle on loan. The idea was that this might increase accuracy (their's shot groups a tad under 2" at 100 meters). Has anybody tried this? I would assume that with proper bedding and existing recoil lug, the two screws holding the action should be sufficient...or not? Frans

I just bought a classic CZ stock for my 375H&H from Jim Brockman and upon their recommendation free floated the barrel and glass bedded the action. Yesterday I shot MOA groups with the barnes TSX 270 grains. Very pleased with the stock and the accuracy. I might also add that I shot over 50 rounds and didn't feel beat up in the least. The stock design and excellent recoil pad really work well.
