A while back I was interested in purchasing a rifle that was for sale in South Africa and having it shipped to me in the US. what seems a simple proposition, getting approval from ATF for a one-time importation turned out to be a lot more involved than a reasonable person would consider acceptable. this was primarily because in addition to getting approval from the crime oriented agency- proving that I was a nice person, it also involved customs- which was the real wrench in the gears. they were primarily interested in duty, tariffs, quotas, threats to US producers market share and besides, they just weren't very interested in doing anything other than dealing with the large importers that involve regular shipments of guns with known valuations. So, I passed on the deal and ended-up buying a rifle made in the US. But I wish you well!!
