458 Lott vs. 470 Capstick
Hi folks not trying to start a war... (well maybe a skirmish). I'm seriously thinking of rebarreling my 375 H&H to 470 Capstick due to it's apparent lack of recoil (and my desire to go after cape buffalo). Pros/Cons?

Thanks,
Chuck

This topic seems redundant with the 458 Lott 470 NE thread I just noticed. My apologies.

Uhhh, who told you that the .470 Capstick has 'light' recoil? bsflag

It shoots the same weight bullets at the same velocities as the .458 Lott - in rifles of the same weight, it would have the same recoil.

I have a .470 Capstick, and it definitely recoils a lot more than my .375H&H.

With my 458 Lott it recoils at 74 FT. LBs. With the 500 GR bullet at 2280 FT LBS

I get about the same recoil in my 10.75lb. .470 Capstick with 500grs. at ~2300fps.
