Any body got a pet load for 375 h&h? I got a new cz in 375, but my handloads using 270 softpoints with IMR 4064 have been less than impressive. Usualy about 1 3/4 to 2 1/2. I quite certain the rifle will do better than that, I checked the bedding & relieved the barrel channel foward of the recoil lug, but nothing has helped yet. Any help? Regards Mike

Hi Mike,

A load that has worked well in both of my .375s is a maximum load of W760 with the 300gr. Swift A-Frame, Federal 215 primers, and Federal brass.

I don't shoot lighter bullets in my .375.

Mike,

My load in a Win. Mod. 70 is as follows;

W-W brass. Bench Rest prep.

Fed. Mag 215 'Gold Medal' primers.

North Fork 300gr. bullets.

RL 15 powder 72.5 grains.

Lee 'Factory' Crimp Die @ 1/2 turn

Velocity is 2550 fps. out of factory barrel.

Accuracy is 3/4" with 5 shots @ 100 yards with scope set on 6X

Give this a try, but the gun has to decide. Keep working, it will find a combo that it likes. The .375 is reputed to be a "naturally accurate" cartridge that likes almost everything it digests.

All the best,

Sam

Ive used WW760 with 270gr, 285 gr Grand Slams, and the 300 gr pills with very good results. I think RL15 should be excellent as well and plan on using some in the next reloads I put together. Both of these powders are mentioned in the earlier post replys here so it appears we have similar experiences. Best wishes

One other thing to add, get yourself a chronograph to reference your loads against the books. If you can't afford one on your own, go in with a good shooting buddy. Otherwise, reloading for performance is hit and miss.

With the 270 Hornady, about 74 gr. RL15 works, goes 2770 in my rifle. The same rifle with the 270 North Fork bullet is identical in velocity and uses 72.0 grains of RL15. I would try the RL15, but it is damn unusual to have a .375 that won't shoot well with 4064. I'd probably try the north forks as well with 4064, you can usually use about the same amt of powder RL15 or 4064.

The load which I have found to me the most accurate when taken across a very range of 375 H&Hs is 78 grains of Win 760 and the 300 grain Hornady Round Nose. It is the first load I have always used in a 375 and if it does shoot OK then usually there is a rifle, scope or mount problem.

The 300 grain Sierra also with 78 grains of 760 has been good but I have not seen that load shot across nearly as many rifles.
