I'm looking at bullet weights for DG ranging from 450grs to 550grs. From faster 450s to slower 550s. what is the general consensus? Thanks

With the 458 Lott...450 to 500 grains at 2300 to 2150 fps should work just fine. My choice would be 500 grains North Fork or CEB at 2250+/- fps

I think if I were shooting a Lott these days that a fellow could get by across the board with all DG with the 450/420 combo BBW#13s.... Running the 450 at close to 2400 easy, and the 420 at 2450 or so. This would cover anything on the African continent as a do everything combination. If I were going after nothing but elephant... Nothing else on the menu... Then I would run that 480 #13 Solid. Going to Alaska for bear... ???? Probably look real hard at the 250 Socom at god knows what speed in a Lott, I was running 2900 fps in an 18 inch 458 B&M...... Today... That would be my top choices for DG in a Lott.... My recoil threshold was surpassed with 500 grainers at 2300 using AA DP-74. Bone stock Ruger. I kept it a hair over 2200 fps and was ok.
