Austin Hunter404 Jeffery Factory Crimp Die Source
Does anyone know where to get a Lee Precision or similar factory crimp die for the 404 Jeffery? NOT a taper die.
I just called Lee and they don't have any. They can do it custom, but they just closed their custom service down because they were flooded with requests.

Austin HunterUnfortunately not for a few months. Their custom shop is closed and severely back logged.

MJinesYou cannot just set up your seating die to crimp (as a separate step at the end) as an interim solution?

Austin HunterThe taper die works fine on the 430 gr NF solids, but there is nothing for the crimp to set into on the 380 gr SS bullets when seating at max spec length.

Austin HunterI guess I'll go with a backup plan for some Aframes. I'm sure I can taper crimp them.

eagle27There are gadgets available that will put a cannelure on bullets allowing them to then be crimped as part of the bullet seating process, or as a separate step with the same die, as you wish.

Lefteris VassiliadisAustin Hunter,
I think that with some slight modification of the collet a Lee Factory Crimp Die for the 416 Rem. Magnum will work.

RustyI have a LEE factory crimp die for a 404 Jeffery. (I have to find where I hid it). You are welcome to use it.
Only caveat is that it is a large 1 1/4-12 Thread die. If you have a Lee Classic die with a removable insert it will work on that press.

4-5-0I would order the die if they'll take the order. If it's custom you will need to send a dummy round with the bullet you will be using and where you wanted seated. As to the wait, whenever I've dealt with them they've Always seemed overwhelmed but I got delivery way before the stated date. The 404 is not a particularly vigorous round so you should be Ok for practice. Depending on when your hunt is, it will be the waiting game we all hate.

Austin HunterThanks guys. I do plan to order one when they will accept the order.
Rusty - I'll send you a PM.
