Agree with Nopride2, Ray, and others on this issue; Don Heath probably mispoke on this one, BUT since he is quite knowledgeable and experienced on rifle and hunting matters, he must have been trained to use opposite hand safeties. He probably does it well, but the rest of us should stick with the method that is safe, fast, and does the job for us when using a DGR. And that probably is the 3 pos M-70 right hand safety for righties.

Didn't Heath write a bit of a retraction to that statement in the next issue of African Hunter? Seems like he wrote that with proper training and adequate experience with the Winchester 3 position safety it would not be a hinderance.

I told Don he was poorly trained as well.

There is a high-end maker in Europe who advertises a M70 style safety on his Mauser action with the shooters choice of left or right side.
