Kwan - we'll talk when you get back.

Recoil - No load delivering less than 150 fps than factory ammo from a 24" barrel is permitted. Tests (chrono & bullet weighing)are conducted when suspicions arise. If you shoot a big bore every week of your life you tend to control recoil well. The fact that the guys are not thumped by the big boys is because they learnt at BASA how to use these guns effectively. We have 70kg guys and 55 kg women shooting .500's (Jeffery & NE) that make it look like .375s.

Good vid! I also noticed the lack of "shoulder rechambering" and this is something I practice. Work the bolt from your shoulder! That said I don't think I could do any better under competition pressure and video! BUT I should do better and should practice until I CAN engage the target and cycle the bolt and reload the mag in the best way possible. Something to strive for! I look at this video as "how can I get better" and appreciate it without denouncing it.

If you read the discussion above you will see that this too has negatives. I have always belived it to be the right thing too. However, some of the older, highly experienced legends warn that this hampers your field of view and when in a situation with multiple animals, dropping the rifle to cycle can be advantageous as it permits you to monitor other animals or goings-on around you.

kayaker,

I reread this thread and of course you are right! I jumped on the "work the bolt from your shoulder" bandwagon without comprehending that there was a differing and viable opinion Eeker Thanks!
