Limbsaver v. Decelerator

JohnDeereLimbsaver v. Decelerator
I've always used Decelerators. Those of you who have used both Limbavers and Decels, what do you think? Make any difference?
Also, Sims is claiming a "new" technology on recently manufactured pads. Supposed to reduce muzzle jump on heavy kickers by six inches. BS?
Mine will go on a Ruger Alaskan.

ElCaballeroDecelerators look better. I think Limbsavers MAY reduce felt recoil a little better. Not enough to get past the look though for me.
There has been some issues with the Limbsaver regarding some sort of "melting". I have not experienced this, others on the forum have. Sims says they have it fixed.

jeffeossolimbsavers GREATLY reduce recoil over anything except the kickeez.. however, the kickeez has well earned its nickname of ripease.. only the f990 comes close
SOME decelerators look nice (they make a product line) some don't ..
kickeez are heavy, limbsavers are somewhat heavy, and decel's are of the lightest in weight
allow me to state it this way.. *I* have gone to using nothing but limsavers for new bigbores

LabmanI guess I really can't compare the two, but my RSM 416 Rigby is at the gunsmiths right now for installation of one of the new Limbsaver pads. It has to be better than the hard version that came from the factory.

MacD37I have several different recoil pads in shotguns, and rifles, but on my double rifles, I have only Kick-Ezze, and declerators. Between those two I can't tell any difference, in felt recoil reduction. However, for quality, and long life of the pad, you can't beat the decelerator, and for double rifles, Pachmyer makes the decelerator in the treditional red color! I installed all mine before they went back to makeing the red ones, so I'm now going to have to change them out, so the Kickezze will likely go away, on my rifles!

Silvers pads tend to get hard over time, but they look nice on a double rifle! The red decelerators are a good substitute for the silvers, and don't harden!

PeterWould someone came to post a "limbsaver vs decelerator for dummies" educational item? ie. materials, looks, ease of install etc.

Magnum Hunter1Limbsavers are too ugly for me to use. I just can't get past it.

Are you sure their grind-to-fit isn't "normal" looking?

JPennI have a grind to fit Sims on my 375, looks like any other black recoil pad to me....I think the "Michlin man" look is only on the "precision fit" pads.
And I think this is a superior recoil pad, better than the Decelerator that came on the rifle.

Jim Z.I use Limbsavers on all my heavy recoil guns and I love them. They really make shooting pleasuable. I use the slip on variety. I tried the grind to fit but it fit like shit.
I understand that some guys don't like the looks, but I use them as a tool. The looks are not that bad at least in my mind. Here is one of my guns using the limbsaver.

MJinesLimbSavers have a nasty habit of breaking down or something that makes them stick to things -- like carpet for example. For that reason, I have come to dislike them. Personally I much prefer the durability and functionality of the Decelerators.
