404 Jeffery
I want to build a 404 Jeffery using a 98 mauser type action. Does anyone have any experience doing this and how many headaches is this going to cause me? I'm pretty sure the action will have to be opened up to handle the cartridge length as will the bolt face. I'm sure there are a lot of other things I haven't even thought about yet. All comments are welcome.

Larry SellersPB - not an answer to your question, but. I have a CZ 550 Safari Magnum Classic in .404 Jeff, new in the box, unfired, with Redding dies, brass, bullets, cutom loaded ammo at a really good price. Great wood, feeds with no problems, reall great piece for the $$$$. PM me for more info if interested.

Von GruffI built my 404 on a ex mil 98. The length and bolt face issues are simple but the feed issues need the ramp re-worked on each side and the mag well milled. I added 3mm to depth which gave easier fitting of 3 down and kept slim stock. Great caliber and great project to undertake.

Thanks Larry, but I already bought the action and barrel, and I've lined up a gunsmith to do the metal work. I have a CZ550 in 458 Lott. It is one of the first ones they rechambered from .458 Win. A really good shooter but it does thump at both ends.
