What the heck!! how do you come up with all those names?? I think I will go an baptize all my rifles to names like "The super equalizer", "Fat short stubby Agamemnon" and "Odins Mega tri-blaster"....
...I dont get it... isnt it easier to call the rifles, like most people do... "the -06", "the 243" or for the brave "the T-Rex"???

DaggaRon

you are right. Sleipnir is Odin's horse. A text I once had named his spear Sleipnir, which is incorrect.

Here's some other other ideas:

"Grond" - "the hammer of the underworld" from Lord of the Rings;

The Ring of Sigurd (or Siegfried) is "Andvarinaut";

The "Einherjar" are the heroes selected by the Valkure who feast in Valhalla;

"Gram" was Sigurds sword;

"The wild hunt" was a fantastic ride in the sky that the Germans thought they heard on stormy nights. A demented gallop led by warriors killed in battle. The chief the master of passion, who breathed enthusiasm for war into the hearts of men - Wode or Wodan/Odin. (Larousse)

A lot of other material. Anything in particular?

Refs are "Larousse World Mythology" and "The Encyclopeadia of Mythology" Arthur Cotterell.

Marvel comic books don't rate highly in authority.

WHAT ABOUT PHANTOM COMICS?

Roger, Yes this would be my accidental purchase that we are naming now. I think my wife is just to the point that she just shakes her head at me now [Roll Eyes] I told her that I was thinking of having the names of each stamped or engraved on them, and she just laughed and allowed that she would never understand!!! gabe

Made in Sweeden, Yep it is easier to just call it "my 338" or "my 458" but where is the fun in that [Confused] Most of my guns have some sort of story behind them, if I take out the single shot 410 shotgun that my grandad gave me many moons ago, each nick and scratch on it comes from a hunt that he went on, and so I guess naming them just makes it kinda personal with me. That and I find it amusing to boot [Big Grin] gabe
