For the 1920s-1930s, a simple battery: 8x60S in a Type A Oberndorf Mauser sporter. 9.3x62 in a Type A Oberndorf Mauser sporter. .470 Nitro Express in either a Jeffery or Westley Richards double rifle. Good, basic working guns. -Bob F.

Wasn't that long ago...Hell I was here!! I'd use the same stuff I use today....A 470, a 404 Jefferys and a Springfield 30-06... Other great options would be the 375 H&H, 9.3x62,and Springfield 30-06 Can't get away from that 06, it just belongs.

I'd have to use custom British double rifles and Farquharson-based single-shots as there were no left-hand actions built at the time, and a Sedgely conversion doesn't interest me now (and it wouldn't have done so then). A .470NE for the big stuff (elephant, rhino, hippo, buff), a .375H&H Flanged for the medium stuff (kudu, waterbuck, sable, roan, eland, gnu, et.al.) and cats, and a single shot in 7x57R for everything else (impala, bushbuck, reedbuck, etc.). Oh, throw in another single-shot in .220 Wotkyns-Wilson Arrow for 'varmints'. A brace of 12ga. British game guns for fowling, and that should cover it nicely. George
