Can anyone recommend a gunsmith? Also I was thinking of a Krieger barrel ...

Thanks,

why not just send the barreled action to Pedersen (sp?) and have him bore and rifle and rechamber an existing 375H&H? Cheap and easy, I think he has the chambering reamer.

The CZ550 Mag barrel on the .375 H&H is only .668" muzzle diameter at the 25" length.

If you cut it back to 20" long, the diameter is about .735". That is pretty slim, but do-able as a rebore. I would prefer .725" or larger muzzle diameter and at least 23" long.

Sounds like a good idea to rebarrel.
What TWIST? Big Grin

Get AHR to do all the wonderful things they can do to a CZ 550Mag.

The CZ550 Mag is certainly the way to go for a great 470 Capstick.

You will get 5 down in the box and one in the chamber, and no problems with the length of any bullet nose, and can even long load to 3.8" length for more power than a 3.6" COL.

I'm going to get AHR to fix up my 500 Mbogo with their basic bolt handle, trigger, and safety job, and a McMillan stock, and work my way down the calibers from there.

Thanks Rip, I plan to send my CZ 550 to Ed Plummer at AHR and have him do the CZ #1 upgrade this month, my gun has everything else (glass bedding, action job, dual crossbolts, etc.) I'm going to wait till next winter to move up to the 470 Capstick. Is Ed a good one to send my rifle to, for the 470 Capstick convrsion?

Bitterroot bought out Ed at AHR, IIRC. Bitterroot posts here.
Something as simple as the 470 Capstick should be no problem in a CZ 550 Magnum, especially if you send a reamer and some dummy cartridges along with the rifle.
I cannot speak for the reamer collection of AHR.
Give AHR a call.

Member prof242 is close to you in Colorado, same home town location. He might have a lead on a gunsmith nearby if you don't have one.
Colorado is the Gunsmithing Mecca of the USA isn't it? Don't gunsmiths grow on trees in Colorado?
