Hi all, I just won an auction for a second 577 pinfire double pistol that looks to be a twin of my first one.

When it gets here, I'll have to take some side by side pics. Now if I could just find a centerfire one.

Based on what you did with that 470 double, I see no reason why you could not make your own Howdah pistols (not for resale).

I stopped by a local steel place last friday to get a quote on prices for some 4140. I checked back this morning and the guy said, nope haven't been able to find any. There are normally pretty friendly about ordering stuff for me. I got a short stick of 1 1/2" O-1 drill rod for makeing tools and it anly took a couple of days to get in. Maybe I'll have to order from a place in SLC and have it shipped up. The design on these look very simple. I"m thinking that 50-70 would be a good Howdah caliber.

be sure to ask about SURPLUS or LEFT OVER pieces

o1 is not what I would make a gun from.. it's SOFT SOFT with soft, and BRITTLE as compared to other steels. It's also air quence/oil aneal, i believe, and requires it to go non magnetic 3 times for max hardness
