I'm having a 416 Rigby built on a standard length 98. For safety reasons, the maximum cartridge length my magazine can handle is 3.7". I'm not going to worry about trying to get the wide meplat solids to feed. I may never make it to Africa, but if I do, round nose bullets will have to do. I have some Federal and Kynoch ammo. The Federal stuff is just under 3.6" and the kynoch soft and solids are both 3.685". It would behoove me to test feeding with as many different manufacturers rounds as possible. Slight differences in case dimensions, and especially rim/extractor groove dimensions, can cause feeding hiccups. Here is what I'm looking for (1 or 2 rounds each):

- Either of the two Barnes Vortex loads
- Norma 400 grain Barnes banded solid (Norma loaded it longer than Barnes does)
- Either of Hornady's loads
- Any non-wide meplat factory load that measures 3.7".

I would like to know the OAL of the Norma 450 grain PH load. If it's 3.7" or less a sample of this would be nice.
If some gracious fellow has these, and would be willing to sell them to me, I am willing to pay twice the fair price. This would save me a few hundred bucks. Thanks!
Matt

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

Matt, I have brass and dies...could make you up some dummies. I'd have to check on bullets, but I could chamfer the mouths on some brass and send them, then you could tap in the bullets you want to try.

If you are planning on 400 grain bullets, then a 14" twist is better than the traditional 16.5".

"A well-rounded hunting battery might include:
500 AccRel Nyati, 416 Rigby or 416 Ruger, 375Ruger or 338WM, 308 or 270, 243, 223" --

That is the twist Dan Pedersen said I have.
