The pics below depict the feeding setup of my Heym 600 NE express rifle.

To those of you with a slow internet connection - sorry!

For those of you with a fast connection, sorry for the quality of these. Hunt101 will only let me upload a low quality pic. Hunt 101 will not accept a medium or high quality pic from my camera for whatever reason.

Note the reverse step in the rails of this rifle. At about their midpoint, the rails get NARROWER, forcing the rim out of the magazine and behind the extractor.

The left lug of the bolt extends beyond the front of the boltface to present an offside holder for the rim.

The boltface is 0.750" diameter.

There are EAW quick release bases installed on the square bridges of the rifle.

Here are the bolt and boltface:

How close is it to being almost straight in-line feed? From the angle of the pic it looks like there is minimal stacking.

500,

That just has to be the top big banger bolt action, the whole lot in one package.

475guy,

It is a staggered feed and the follower is much like any mauser follower, only bigger.

500 grns-Interesting photos and thanks for posting them. Kinda reminds me of a overgrown Siamese Mauser in the beloved 45-70 caliber trying to feed. Does it really cock the cartridges that high up during feeding, or is it just the photo? The .600 overkill slides into the chamber with very little tilt. I imagine that coming up on the feed rails with that rim sliding under the extractor could be a little sticky. Are the rims staggered in the magazine?-Rob

Rob, there's not much tilt in the feeding. The pic may not be exactly representative because as I moved the bolt forward the rim wanted to go right up under the extractor (as it should), and I had to manually stall things to take a pic.

Finally! Well that is a very nice looking piece of artillery you have there. I noticed you stated the bolt face is 0.75" in diameter. As I recall the rim diameter of the 600 NE is ~ .800". Do you have to turn down the rims on the cases or is my memory failing me?

Regarding holding the rim...

Here are the bolt and boltface:

It is not necessary to turn rims down.
