Yukon Delta and a friend of his came down this afternoon for some shooting.....and brought a couple of big bores to play with. First up was a "510 rimless express", a 404 Jeffery necked up. This is a heavy rifle, I believe they said around 13 pounds. I don't know the load data, but the bullets were 500+ grain cast......recoil on this one was mild. The smaller of the two was a 450 Ackley Improved, it's built on a Mark X action with a shaw barrel in a light tupperware stock. I'm not sure what load we were shooting but it definitely got your attention! We finished up with my 50 BMG....no big deal on recoil with it since it's heavy and has a big brake....... It was a fun afternoon and now I'm confident that I can handle that 458 lott I've been thinking about.

Hi GonHuntin, Sounds like a good time alright. I used to own a 450 Ackley and the 375 case seemed to be blown out substantially with minimum taper. What is the difference between the 450 Ackley and the improved 450 Ackley? 470 Mbogo

Mbogo Beats me? It may have been a 450 Ackley.....I can't keep up with all these differences.

GH, It sounds like you have finally talked yourself into the 458 Lott.......and the next trip to Africa!! ......or is it rationalized.....either way...go for it!! I wish I could have joined you at Red Castle this weekend!! It sounds like fun. Bob
