I know that 1040gr at 1600fps is still not even coming close to Robs 900gr at 2400fps+. But The Enfield is getting old(88years!!) so I think Ill work up to it slowly. I am not sure how fast one can push cast bullets without gas checks and such??
I ended up drilling out and old pacific press and tapping it for the 600 OK dies. It seem to work real good. I was to cheap to spend the bucks and a high $$ press.
I have alot of work to do and the bottom metal and magbox lid. I want to finish this before i load up the REAL loads.
I was thinking the 1040grs at about 1700fps would be a decent hog and whitetail load. Just need to find a place to pop a few.
In the next weekend or so I am going to try and get some video of some shots and some water filled jugs. Now I have to decide wich of my next three projects is next. Conversion of an 1851 cap and ball to 44colt, rebarrel a double shotgun to 303british( a couple of my buddies say they will kill me if I cut up my Jeffery double 12gauge) or a 577bpe single shot.
Decisions decisions

Dean,
here's my projects in the works
550 express... tons and tons of work, so waiting for ATF paperwork won't be too BAD

45/70 double rifle... building a monoblock for my stoeger.. have the barrels...

376 steyr... cz takeoff barrel.. got everything but putting it together

stockmachine... changing it from 2 axis and swing to 3 axis and swing.. don't ask, it'll warp your mind.

If it were me, I would build a 38-55 or 45/70 for the double.. or even a 405.. 405 would be neato

I've got a london guns dropbox, that might work for a singlestack... i can send it to ya and you can see

heck buddy if i had know your really going to be shooting that freaking cannon i would have ordered swage die's for it and cut you a better deal on bullet's then woodleigh
but then again thay do make good bullet's....

Sound;s like you need a we bit more recoil pad

Tonto-Way to GO! Thats pretty decent gunsmithing to scratch build a .600OK from an Enfield. I think when you get up to my 2100fps load with a 900 gr woodleigh you will be very satisfied with the results. You can probably safely go to the limit, but nobody including me does it more than once! Everyone who has shot one of these is extremely impressed by the hydraulic effect of these big bullets on water bottles. I've shot two deer with my .600OK at 50 yrds or so and the effect was the same. It literally smacks the game down. You'll soon see what I'm talking about. Again, Congrats!-Rob
