Hi Mike, Nice choices! This is going to be great fun on buffalo. I've got a loading of 111 grains of RL-15 with the Barnes 570 "X". It was not at all hot. I think it may be a safe starting point with the 570 GS but I have never used that bullet.

http://www.nookhill.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=16;t=003282#000000 Review the above: 110 grains of RL-15 gave 2346 fps with the GSC FN 570 grainer of 0.510 diameter, seated deep enough to barely compress the powder, about a 102% load of the available space. No pressure signs. Good load. This was in my 510 JAB which is a 500 A2 with slightly less freebore than the standard 500 A2, and my barrel was 1 in 10" twist, and only 23" long, McGowen stainless. You run out of case capacity before you get into pressure problems with the 500 A2 and RL-15 with 570 grain GSC FN's or 570 grain Barnes XLC's. if you REALLY want to master the beast order yourself 500 600gr .510 GS bullets from Wayne at www.customcastbullets.com tell him you want them HARD and will be running them 2200-2300 fps. then go to http://www.patsreloading.com/patsrel/prices.htm and get 8# of WC 852-Virgin 30-06 US Government Rifle Ball powder, Use H414 loading data to work up all loading data , 8#-$64.00. This powder is slower than H414 , Virgin Stock, Almost Gone Start at 90 grains, and work up. use ONLY, and I frickin mean ONLY federal 215 primers. hang fires on 50's SUCK!! You'll be out about 170 bucks, add the 5 bucks for primers, and be shooting your whomper for 35 a pop. You should be able to hit 2200 easy with that powder. Since it's your first 510 monster, the 1700-1800 fps you would be starting with will be, hmmm, pleasant in comparision. pull it tight to your shoulder, try to keep your eyes on the target, and get the sites IMMEDIATELY back on exactly where you aimed, start at 25 yards... and, to paraphrase Ross Siegfreid, do NOT hold on like grimdeath.... and, imho, other than your shooting SHOULDER, the rest of your body should be pretty relaxed... take 100-200 rounds to get totally used to the gun, and add 3-5 grains a week.... BTW, if you are so brave as to chunk 10-15 down on your first outing, have someone else drive you home. big bore shooters know what I mean jeffe
