coon, Welcome to the forum. For a hunter, gunsmith, and possible African hunter, there just isn't a better site on the net for good information, good people willing to share their knowledge, and some just plain interesting characters. Sometimes we have some "interesting" discussions pop up, but they are soon over and we move on to more mundane business. About the only other site I've found with this much character and good people is 24hourcampfire.com. You never know who you might run into on these forums, some good, some bad and some who are the real deal. If you knew some of the names behind some of the handles, you might be surprised. Pull up a log and join in!- Sheister BTW, give some second thought to that Walnut Burl for a stock. It might look beautiful, but the strength qualities of any burl material is questionable, at best. I use it for tips and caps only and it sure is nice, but I wouldn't use it for a stock on a rifle that had any substantial amounts of recoil. Just my 2 cent's worth- Sheister

I'm stuck between 25 and 26 inches for the barrel. I'm probably going to leave it longer until I stock it. Then I find the "balance" for my wife. When I did my 375 I made it around 10# and when my wife shot it I thought she was going to "plunk" the barrel into the ground before she fired. Luckily she hefted it up and got it on target. BTW - for all those who laugh at us big bore fanatics - She laughed after the recoil. I've had others shoot it also who thought recoil would be bad but were pleasantly surprised. Thanks also Sheister for the wood info. I had originally planned on going with english walnut, and will probably go back to it. I'll have to gold line "bands" near muzzle and two near breech on the barrel, 2 gold wired inlaid Ovals, one on each side of action. Inside ovals on left will be 2 standing zebras with background and on the right will be a zebra "off-center" frontal. The rest will be light scroll work in the corners of action. Dakota scalloped grip cap. I also want to make a "cover" for the screw hole on the forend, similar to the hinged grip cap units on doubles. Thanks, Troy

JAMBO Coon, drag up a chair, and join the gabb! We are always in need of fresh information, and there is some old stuff here you may be able to use as well! Tell me more about this Montana 1899 action, and the Montana Rifle Company! ------------------

Hi Coon, Welcome to the forum as well. I would also be interested in the Montana action information. Is it sized for the Rigby cartridge? 470 Mbogo

The ones coming out in Nov of this year will be. They plan on making 4 actions. Their web site is: montanarifleman.com for more technical info. They are real helpful to talk to. The also make barrels and I believe I'm going to try one of there's for the 500 Jeffries. For the money and the helpful advice they gave me I think they are sure worth the chance.

Hi Coon, I'm a new user and I'm enjoying myself as much as you and all the older members are (lucky guys - they've had so much more time with accuratereloading!) My country doesn't allow anyone to bring guns in unless they've lived abroad fopr 2 years and I am on the verge of leaving to live in a more gun friendly place where I hope that I'll be able to go back to hunting and shooting like I did over 15 years ago when my country allowed it. You guys are twice lucky - you can enjoy accuratereloading as well as shooting! I'm absolutely happy for you.
