Hello all, I finally got a replacement for the tupperware stock on my withworth Mk X 458 win. The stock that was on it was brutal to shoot so I am starting to put a little time into this gun. It wears on iron sights as of yet. I am looking for opinions on a peep that rides on the warne bases that are already there or 2/3 leaf express sights, or nothing at all, it already wears a burris 4x scope (do I just get a backup scope in qd rings and forget about anything else). I think it looks a little funny without irons but that just may be me. thanks, gabe It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it!

I would not own a DGR without iron sights.. A ghost ring peep and a barrel band front would be my choice...I would not use Warne Rings myself, prefering Talleys and a Brockman Talley base peep (ghost sight).. The spare scope is a great idea, but like Ray, if it's a DGR, it needs good, robust irons. You bang your scope up on the trail of a big dagga boy & you aren't going to call time out & go back to the truck! LIFE IS NOT A SPECTATOR'S SPORT!

Once upon a time, Warne made a rear base that had a little peep built into it. I've got one that will fit your Whitworth. PM me if you're interested. Okie John "The 30-06 works. Period." --Finn Aagaard

Ray, Just a quick follow up, why do you not like warne? just curious no flame here, they just seem pretty stout to me, maybe I am overlooking something? thanks, gabe It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it!

Gabe, I shoot Mausers and like low scopes with 20 mm objectives like the 1x4, 1.5x5 and 3X Leupolds mounted low...On a Mauser you must put the levers on the bolt side as the bolt release interferes with the snugging up of the rings by the levers..The Warnes have that weak spring that will let the levers change position and recoil will move them..on two ocassions they bounced around and changed position on me and blocked the uplift on my bolt, once during a rare charge, that was the last time..I finished both hunts with taped up scope rings to hold the levers...I changed out all my rifles and went to Talleys after the second ordeal wherein a PH pulled my cookies out of the fire...I am fine with the Talleys. I have had some decenters tell me this cannot happen, will not happen, but it did to me, so I just say to them in that case the Warnes are the rings and bases for them and good luck....
