I just picked up the subject gun. I own a few Ugartachea shotguns and they have proven to be solid pieces. Below is a link to a slug gun just like mine except that mine has the original stock and butt pad (and I paid $2050 less for it). I am told that it should be regulated with Brenneke slugs at 50 yards though Remington and Federals should also shoot close. By the way, the gun is near new, has 25" barrels, fairly pretty wood that is cleanly checkered, has sling studs attached on the underside of the barrels about 5" from the forend and 1 1/2" from the 1/2" thick factory rubber butt pad, a small "V" notched drift adjustable rear sight with a small beaded front sight and weighs 6 3/4 pounds. Everything is nicely blued except the receiver which is a polished silver and engraved with a boar on each side along with a fine line border around all areas of the action, lever, tangs, etc. The rib is finely checkered for the first 6 1/2" (about 1 1/2" beyond the rear sight) then dips down a bit and is smooth until 1 1/2" from the front sight where it becomes checkered again. This is probably as close as I will ever get to a double rifle!! I am taking one of my boys on deer hunting in the Texas Hill Country next weekend and the ranch is loaded with hogs. I would love to swat one with this piece so I need to get to the range with some loads and see what happens. Should be a fun piece to play with anyway. http://doubleguns.com/165056a.jpg http://doubleguns.com/englisheuropean.htm [This message has been edited by Ed (edited 01-02-2002).]

Sure hope the gun shoot with regulation. My uggie 12 ga. shotgun did fine on pheasants this year (chokes opened to .008 and .012). See you over at SSM board... redleg

Looks like a very nice weapon. Pardon my ignorance, but I have never heard of these shotguns before. Can someone enlighten me as to were they are made, etc, etc. Thanks,

The Italian government from time to time passes laws that make it very hard to own a rifle. Then they repeal them. Then they pass them again. Generally the hunters (who have their own political party, BTW!) ignore the law and just get whatever they can afford. Those SxS slug guns, though, are a end run around all the laws because they're SHOTGUNS and getting a scatter shooter in the Old Country isn't much hassle. Now with Brenneke slugs they'll take the engine out of a prowl car and do it at 100 meters so how much "safer" the population is supposed to be with the rifle laws in place, I don't know. Typical parliamentary b*****t. It will definately flatten a piggy, though, and that's the whole idea as wild boar are very common in the Appenines (sp). Have fun with it. You sure got a good deal.
